An avid hunter, fisher, and outdoorsman, Eric has a deep-seated love for nature that permeates every aspect of his life. His lifelong dream had always revolved around owning his own backcountry cabin, nestled in the heart of Idaho's wilderness. For Eric, the location requirements for this dream were specific: it had to be remote, densely forested, teeming with game, and offer breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

 

After years of searching, in the spring of 2023, Eric embarked on a journey that would change his life. A brief visit to the picturesque town of Riggins, Idaho, led him to an extraordinary discovery. There, among the rugged beauty of the state's wilderness, he stumbled upon a hidden gem – 64 acres of pristine land. With an endearing enthusiasm, he affectionately dubbed this piece of paradise "Morchella Place." The name was a testament to Eric's passion for foraging wild mushrooms, particularly morel mushrooms, as "Morchella" is the genus under which they fall.

 

Eric's connection to Morchella Place was immediate and profound. He wasted no time in exploring every nook and cranny of the property, immersing himself in the natural world that surrounded him. With a keen eye and a deep appreciation for the flora and fauna, he began taking meticulous mental notes of the land's ecological richness.

 

Early on, he established a simple yet welcoming fire pit, as seen in the accompanying photo, creating a place where friends and family could gather to share stories and create lasting memories. He often camped on the land, using these excursions as opportunities to determine the perfect spot for his dream cabin.

 

After countless nights spent under the starlit Idaho sky and much contemplation, Eric made a firm decision. He chose the location on Morchella Place where Morchella Place Lodge stands today. This site maximized the breathtaking views, offering perfect vantage points from which to witness the area's awe-inspiring sunrises and sunsets, a testament to Eric's profound love for the outdoors.

 

In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Eric is an attorney and a proud alum of Harvard Business School. When he's not immersed in the natural world, he dedicates his professional life to his role as the Vice President of Legal and General Counsel for a company specializing in outdoor recreational equipment. His career not only reflects his passion but also allows him to bring his deep knowledge of the outdoors into the corporate world, making him a true advocate for the wilderness he holds so dear.
